Agrofood Logistic and Distribution Hub Feasibility Study (Développement économique Longueuil)
Agrofood Logistique and Distribution
Our team was mandated by the City of Longueuil Economic Development Office to evaluate the feasibility of developing an integrated agri-food distribution and logistics hub on the south shore of Montreal that will serve the Eastern Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic markets. Various consultations were held with the Quebec’s food producers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers, and processors. Freight forwarders, transportation companies and shippers were also consulted to assess market demand and identify operational requirements, gaps and inefficiencies in the distribution networks that could be alleviated with the development of an integrated food distribution hub in Longueuil.
We worked with the Government of Quebec Economic Development Department, which created an inter-departmental committee, including five (5) departments (Economic Development, Agriculture, International Affairs, Revenue and Transportation). An industry steering committee (of more than 20 stakeholders) gathering key agri-food business leaders was also created to strategically guide the development of the hub centre.
A complete business plan was prepared recommending to the Longueuil EDO to proceed with the development of agri-food distribution and logistics hub.
