Explorer Solutions led the Master Plan preparation for Montreal St-Hubert Airport. YHU is a certified airport with three runways, one small regional carrier (Pascan Aviation), a large flight training component grouping four flights school generating close to 90,000 movements annually, aerial work operators including air ambulance and RCMP airbases, business and general aviation. The airport is also home to the 438 RCAF squadron, large and small charter operators and multiples FBO’s.
Our work included conducting a mission and vision session with the Board of Directors, analyzing and recommending the best location for a new terminal, planning growth phases of the terminal from 40,000 annual pax to up to 750,000 by 2038. We developed multiples air services forecasts and growth strategies evaluating various types of carriers (low cost, regular national carriers, regionals, vacation charters) to service provincial, domestic, transborder and international markets).
We also developed a very comprehensive land-use plan to manage growth and investment attraction for airside and groundside parcels of land. The plan also included all of the regular master plan requirements (airport portrait, stakeholder engagement, forecasting, airside and groundside conditions assessment, land use, options analysis (terminal, airside, groundside), capital plan and a phased development plan.
